Senior Project Management Associate

Primary Job Functions

  • Responsibility for tracking, allocating and forecasting project costs for a $750MM grassroots petrochemical project
  • Monitor the contractor project schedule to determine progress and identify risks as they relate to the project cost and schedule
  • Develop tools, process and systems for project controls and project management for the current project and future projects
  • Support the decision-making process for change orders, scope changes, etc.
  • Review, assess, and analyze contractor cost performance during engineering, procurement and construction through to the commissioning phase of the project
  • Prepare and deliver budget and schedule update presentations to the Next Wave senior management team and to external stakeholders, including financial institutions
  • Support the commercial efforts of the project through contract reviews and negotiations with a focus on the EPC contract
  • Support the implementation and use of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • As the project nears completion, take over many of the routine project management duties as the Project Manager / Plant Manager focuses more heavily on operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting/Finance/Engineering or equivalent required
  • Previous exposure or experience in the refining/petrochemical/energy sector preferred
  • Previous experience in project management
  • Experience working within contracts and familiarity with the fixed-price EPC contract structure

  • Ability to excel in a mostly self-directed work environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and extended hours to meet deadlines when required
  • Proficient with MS Office software, with an emphasis on MS Excel
  • Proficient with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software such as Waterfield or others
  • Experience with project planning software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred
