Process Operator

Pasadena, TX

Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating shift (Days / Nights / Weekends / Holidays)

Primary Job Functions

  • Rotating shifts and positions, including console and outside operator functions
  • Responsible for analyzing process and lab data to determine if adjustments are required and to ensure the plant is operating is a safe and environmentally compliant state
  • Responsible for the sampling of hydrocarbon feeds and products and other utility and catalyst streams
  • Work with technical staff for troubleshooting and optimization
  • Review, utilize and update operating procedures for normal and emergency operations
  • Manage line-ups, communications and other requirements needed for effective pipeline and tank transfers outside of the facility
  • Support truck loading and unloading activities, including line-ups, volume measurement, scale operations, safety checks and DOT requirements such as issuing a bill of lading
  • Serve as a member the site Emergency Response Team (ERT), including completion of all necessary ERT training
  • Support the PSM effort through participation in permitting activities, safety studies, updates to operating procedures, training, etc.
  • Support site maintenance activities through equipment clearing and isolations, preventative maintenance activities and monitoring of contractors
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly facility
  • Manage internal and external critical communications, especially during emergency situations
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs

Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous refinery or petrochemical operations experience or equivalent technical training required
  • Specific experience with the sulfuric acid alkylation and/or olefin dimerization technologies preferred
  • Experience in commissioning and startup of new processing facilities preferred
  • Experience in developing and reviewing operating procedures preferred
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, equipment drawings, and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) preferred
  • Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry (CSE) preferred
  • Experience and/or training in emergency response preferred
  • Direct operating experience using a DCS platform preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass relevant medical examinations associated with the use of PPE
  • Lift 50 pounds floor to waist
  • Push and pull 50 pounds horizontally
  • Carry 20 pounds while walking
  • Climb stairs and ladders
